L&T INFOTECH PAPER & INTERVIEW - 13 MAY 2007 - MUMBAI

Hi Friends

I am ANUPAM BAJPAI, 4th yr / 8th sem student of computer science engg. From ATMIYA INSTITUTES OF TECHNOLOGY, RAJKOT. I've been selected in L&T INFOTECH on 13th May. Thanks to all mighty God. My exam was conducted at L&T InfoTech walk-in at saki vihar Powai. There were near about 250 Student appeared / participated and finally only 21/24 (not sure) students were selected and I was lucky to be one of them.

We were told to report at 9:30 a.m on that day. Exam was scheduled after the normal mandatory certificate verification (*Most imp* criteria is reduced from 60% to 58% with o alive back-log /ATKT ) and then appti exam started at 10:00 and ended at 11:30a.m (90 Question in 90 min). The results of the written test of our batch was declared about 1 hrs. later. And then after 30 min the GD started an at about 15min GD was over and after 1 hour Hr interview started and at 7:00 pm in evening final results were declared.

The selection procedure consists of three parts.
1. Aptitude test
2. Group discussion or extempore (for me it was only Extempore)
3. H.R ( 90% case)

The Aptitude test was quite easy if you have already solved R.S  Agarwal. All the questions were from the books of Agarwal. There  were  three sections in the aptitude part. The 1st section was quantitative aptitude, 2nd was verbal-non verbal reasoning, 3rd part was ENGLISH. Each section consisted of 30 questions. (***MOST IMP sectional cut-offs for each section***). Total allotted time was 90 mins, with 90 questions. So you have to be quick.

As far as I remember some of the quant. Questions..

SECTION 1.
1.A boat travels at 30k.m/hr upstream  and 40 k.m/hr downstream.What is the speed of the boat in still water?

2.Man buys two xyz for Rs. 1250/- each. One is sold at 15% loss of actual value. At what price must 2nd article be sold to gain 25% overall?

3profit loss agin

4.(72+70+68+..+40)=?

5.What is the least number(among 4 options) that can be subtracted from 4451 to obtain a perfect square?

6.Problem on ages

7.problem on Pie chart(3 Q)

8.Two taps A and B can fill up a tank in 15 mins.and 21 mins. respectively They are opened together and after 4 mins A is closed. In how much
time B will fill up the remaining part?

9.If x^2-4x+7<=0 and x>=2 then x lies between i)0<=x<=1 ii)x<1 iii)0<="X<=INFINITY.

*I AM NOT SURE ABOUT THE CORRECTNESS OR EXACTNESS OF NUMBER AS I DON'T REMEMBER EACH VALUE.

SECTION 2.
Refer to R.s Agarwal verbal and non-verbal reasoning book. All of the questions were from there. The important chapters are....
i.puzzle test (a bit hard)
ii.logic based on Golden nine rules
iii.venn diagram/ blood relation
iv.arithmatic reasoning
v.statement assumption
vi.statement conclusion
vii.analogy
viii.figure based question such as no of triangle/line.

Chapter to be studied:- book to be referred :- RS Agrawal verbal non verbal
1) blood relation
2) puzzle test
3) venn diagram
4) data sufficincy
5) arthimetic reasoning
6) logic
7) statement arguments
8) series completion in pictorial form
9) figure matrix..
10) analogy in pictures

SECTION 3.
If you have a general standard of English, that's enough. You don't have to practice too much for this section. But you can brush up your Grammatical knowledge from any book. Questions were from

i) Synonym & antonym (2/3 each)
ii) Fill in the blanks with preposition
iii) Error correction
iv) Replacement of a phrase by another in the option.
v) Questions from some short passages
vi) Questions from a very long passage (Very easy no need to even reading it directly solve the question by common scene).

Chapter to be studied:- book to be referred :-JUST GO through basic stuff from GRE BARRONS if CBSE student (or English medium) No need to prepare.

The students who cleared the written test were then taken into a GD ROOM for the extempore. We were told to speak on any subject of our liking for 1 mins.

Careful, the topic must be such, that you have to give your opinion on that, rather than only describing it. The topics such as
'Effect of internet on India (MINE)',
'Globle warming',
'US policy to have two party system' etc.
the results were instantly declared. The selected candidates were then given a form to fill up and taken into another room for H.R which is not technical (90% true but if technical then don't worry it will not be hard).

*CONFIDENCE AND BIT OF VOCAB AND PRESENTATION SKILL IS ALL IT MATTERS....

H.R
HR started at 3:50 p.m. I was tremendously tired. The questions asked in the interview to me were...
1.R u comfortable with term and condition ?
2.what is so special about you that we should hire you?
3.questions on family?(*imp)
4.what are your strengths?(*imp)
5.In which aspect you would like to improve upon?
6.Are you ready to be relocated?
7.Do you have any backlogs?  (I don't have any)
8.Do you have any question? I asked about training and higher studies.
9.Final sem project and place and about extra activity....?..

My interview ended in 30 min. I was told that results would be declared in few min. and after 1 hour it was the real moment when Final result's were declared & I was selected and got my offer letter in hand instantly. From All these Experience of mine wish all of u a very good luck
