LONDON: Facebook has reportedly been found to be a
participant in more than 1,000 offences which include sexual grooming and harassment.
The social media giant was found to be a reason where online arguments started and led to physical attacks.
According to metro.co.uk, police revealed the startling number of last year and found the site was used as 'help' for various offences.
In one such case, the site was used by a registered sex offender to befriend a 14-year-old girl, who he went on to meet and ask for sex while in another case a jilted husband posted naked pictures of his ex-wife.
Apart from such serious cases, criminals have also been using the site to boast about the offences they committed.
Recently, a husband posted the pictures of his dead wife after killing her for fighting with him over petty issues.
Facebook spokesman said that the site was 'constantly working' to make it safer adding that there is no place for harassment on the site but unfortunately, a small minority of malicious individuals exist online, just as they do offline, the report added.
